Summer Fishing
The summer in the North Island of New Zealand provides a wide range of fly fishing situations and techniques to catch those wild NZ trout.
Stalking cruising fish in rivers & lakes with dry fly or nymphs, fishing the famous Tongariro Delta (river mouth) with fast sinking lines for hard fighting rainbows that average 4-5 lb.

Stillwater & Lake Fishing
When most fly fisherman hear the words "New Zealand" their minds conjure up images of stalking wild trout in crystal clear mountain streams, what most don't realise is the vast amount of "stillwater" fishing there is to be had.
Lake Otamangakau

We fish many small lakes, some man made others natural, these offer challenges for all styles of fly fishing. Food sources in these are often abundant and the trout can grow very large. Bloodworms, chironomids, damsels, dragonflies and snails making up most of the menu.
We fish these mostly by boat but also do some shore stalking to cruising trout.

Lake Taupo the (largest lake in New Zealand) offers superb trout fishing for beginners through to the most experienced fisherman.
Fly fishing from our 17 ft (5m) boat designed for fishing is one of the most productive ways to catch trout. If your looking for a challenge some of the smaller lakes produce many trophy sized fish on dry fly or nymphs (Nov-May)

Winter Fishing
The Tongariro river is World famous for it's winter run Rainbow (steelhead) trout , fish that average 4-5 lb . Combine this with the back drop of snow capped volcanoes and bush clad mountains makes it easy to see why people come back year after year.
When these trout are running we have no problems in getting novice or expert fly fisherman on to fish. There is also a good chance of large Brown trout which average 6-8 pounds!!
